Meet the parents

Sharl and I had a dinner party last night and invited both of our families over.  It was the first time they’ve all met in person.  It was a great experience, and I was happy to find out how much our parents actually have in common with each other….the obvious commonality being that they are both mixed-marriage couples with mixed-breed children!  They can definitely relate with culture, jokes and most importantly…food!

There’s definitely a unique experience about being part of mixed family that only another mixed family can relate to.  I like that Sharl and I share the same cultures.

After dinner, we exchanged Christmas presents since my family will be going to Montreal.  We got some pretty nice and even creative presents…including a paint kit and a home depot gift certificate!  We now have a winter project to paint our house.

Last night we both had restless sleep and woke up at around 3:45am.  My stomach felt kind of empty so I got up and made bacon and eggs.  We ate at our breakfast bar in what felt like the dead of night.  Even our dog was confused as to what we were doing.  After eating, we tried going back to sleep, but Sharl told me the stupidest joke that we both couldn’t stop laughing and it took some time to feel tired again.
