Sunday started off refreshing and then turned angry and then to goodtimes and then to exhausted:

Refreshing
I went back to the Meeting House in what felt like a long time. For the past few Sundays I was teaching group salsa lessons, doing the Run for the Cure and then in Montreal for Thanksgiving. It was really nice sitting there with my Timothy's coffee in hand and listening to the always-wise words from the speaker. This sermon was about Jesus' miracle of 5 loaves and 2 fish. This used to be my favourite Bible story as a kid... probably because it was a story about food. I'd heard this story so many times, but it resonated with me this Sunday in particular. Probably because I have a hard time believing that God will ever show me a miracle.

Basically...after the sermon, I was reminded that any act committed out of goodness and love is good, no matter what the outcome may be. We might not think of ourselves worthy to produce a miracle, in our own eyes. But we can....if we look at what we have and offer our 5 loaves and 2 fish to God with faith, he can feed 5000.

Angry
So on my way home from church, I decided to drive out to the market to pick up a cake for Tristan's birthday. There was some kind of marathon going on, so there were cops everywhere directing traffic. I breezed by as I was travelling in the opposite direction. I picked up a cake and decided to do a little clothing shopping.

Anyway, happy with my new purchases in hand, I got in my car to go home. Keep in mind that I live only a 10 minute drive from the market. However because of the stupid marathon, they shut down half of the streets in the city, so I kept having to make detours. Of course detours in the downtown core lead to traffic jams!

I decided to draw a picture to demonstrate the hilarity of the route I had to take. Green represents the normal route. Red represents the detour route I took. F represents either the number of points I got rejected and had to try another route and/or the amount of traffic I had to sit through.

I really don't understand why a downtown area would allow their major arteries to be shut down for a MARATHON. I mean come on... the city is congested enough! Can't we confine marathon routes to smaller streets? I mean they shut down the Don Valley Pkwy one weekend. These marathons are getting really annoying.

Goodtimes
The birthday cake EVENTUALLY got delivered safe and sound to where it was supposed to go, and Sharl and I went over to Tristan's early to watch South Africa battle Argentina in the Rugby semi-finals.
Was a good game... at least from what I gathered through the shouts and roars.
I liked watching rugby with Sam because she and I would chat through the boring bits and then join in when the guys were cheering! lol. Yes, I'm such a girl. The only sport I actually enjoy watching from end-to-end is basketball. And maybe soccer.
The rest of the party was a lot of fun. Jules always knows how to put on a good spread. I love Sunday afternoon parties. We drank and ate and chatted with guests. Xhosa had a grand time playing with all the kiddies.
Sharl and I stayed until the bitter end of the party when all the guests were leaving and we were stuck behind helping clean up and do dishes. Was still fun though, since we started dancing to salsa music, and I was drinking wine out of plastic cups at this point.

Exhausted
Weekend well spent... Time to crash in bed.
