Last night Sharl and I treated ourselves to dinner at Czehoski's.
It was a gastronomic experience.
We had a bottle of Semillon Chardonnay and shared a plate of country pork terrine.
Afterward I ordered some espresso cardamom spiced gnocci with cubes of lamb beef and pork.
Sharl had a cornish game hen with potatoes in a tomato ragu.
The gnocci was a real treat as it had the most wonderfully interesting texture and flavour.
We indulged for dessert and had vanilla creme brûlée and dark chocolate flourless cake with gold flecks.
Then we had a vile of absinthe.

I had always been intrigued to try it, so we did. One sip of this intoxicating and hallucinatory drink filled my whole head with flavour that I swear I could taste with my ears. It kind of kicks you in the head with fumes like wasabi does, only this is more potent, and has flavours of rich aromatic anise.
I liked it! Though I'll admit I got pretty hammered. At least we were in walking distance to home. What better way to spend a Thursday night?
