When we first moved to Toronto (I was about 8) my brother had an asthma attack, so my parents had to take him to the hospital. Not wanting me to catch any diseases from the waiting room they told me to wait at home as they would be home by the time Today's Special was over (1 hour). Well 1, 2, 3, 4 hours passed and I was in a PANIC. I sat curled in a ball crying on the couch with the News on certain I would my find family in a car crash scene. I thought I would be alone and abandoned in this new city where I had no family to take care of me. I was traumatized from staying home alone thereafter until I was MUCH older.
