The happiest time of year is always that FIRST weekend where the weather turns from cold and gloomy to sunny and warm. Every summer/spring is always accompanied by a certain song that when heard will place me back into a particular year of summertime memories.
To date a few:
2004 – The Dears “There is no such thing as love” (long random drives past midnight on the Lakeshore)
2005 – Michael Gray “The Weekend” (amazing good times with Mandy!)
2006 – Bif Naked “Tango Shoes” and Gnarles Barkley “Crazy” (Sunday afternoons shopping for fabric downtown for my wedding)
2007 – Corinne Bailey Rae “Put your Records on”

That being said, I had a fabulous first weekend of sun and fun. Saturday, Sharl and I took Xhosa for a walk through Trinity Bellwood’s Park and it seemed everyone in the neighborhood had the same idea. Xhosa is so shy. Every time dogs try to play with her, she comes running to hide between our legs. It secretly warms my heart. Such a loyal puppy. She had a lot of fun though running around and playing in the grass.
In the afternoon, I went to salsa practice and came home and had a nice evening with Sharl.
Sunday was a bit windier but still beautiful. After church, I spent the day with mka starting with lunch on a sunny patio and then shopping on Queen St. At night we met with some other friends from our home church to watch this documentary called Jesus Camp. It was a pretty creepy interpretation of how to evangelize to children, taking on indoctrinating and brainwashing techniques to scare them into believing through heavy emotional imagery. You get the point.
I came home and crashed in bed…...and woke up the next morning with a slight tan.
