I go to this pretty forward-thinking Christian church at Paramount Theatre every sunday called the Meeting house, and this Sunday, the sermon was the last of a 5-week discussion on sex. To end this intensive series on sex, we had an "Ask the Sexpert" forum, where the pastor answered a bunch of questions that some people had emailed him to discuss this week.
One of the questions was, "Why are Christian men so passive when it comes to asking girls out?"
And I had to laugh coz ALL of my single friends have been complaining that men are just not taking any initiative what-so-ever, not to mention Christian men....So the pastor laughed and said, "Alright, brothers...you have the green light...go and ask the girls out!! They want you to!"
When the service was over, this guy sitting next to me leaned over and remarked, "I couldn't help noticing that you sighed at the comment about passive Christian men. Do you find us that bad?" He had a friendly smile, a sparkle in his eye, and he reached out his hand to introduce himself to me while asking what home church I belong to and what I do for fun etc.... A bit caught off guard, I soon realized that he was driving through what he thought was a green light. I quickly tried to explain that it was my single friends who were discouraged by passive single men while subtly trying to bring up the 'husband hint' red light. I think that was the first time I think I got chatted up in church. Anyway, I admire the courage, and I really hope this guy keeps his morale up for another girl and hopefully next time, she won't be wearing a ring.
