Today sharl baked salmon in the oven. It looked so succulent and pink with a nice crisp glaze covering the flesh from the heat of the oven. Aside from it's healthy sources of omega-3's, salmon is one of those beautiful foods that photograph perfectly in cookbook pictures and create elegance on a crisp white plate atop polenta and wilted spinach. However, beauty aside, I cannot stand the taste and smell of salmon. It's one of the items on the very short list of foods I dislike in between green peppers and cilantro. I've tried to like it, but no matter how it's prepared and how many times I've given it a chance, I can't seem to develop a taste for it.
Now my house is filled with the stench aroma of baked salmon, and I'm fighting back nausea. To me, my house now smells like an Asian fish market and now i'm shivering next to my open window trying to breathe in some fresh air.
Anyway, I've found a suitable substitute that looks just as pretty but tastes much better....trout.
