Beautiful Sunday

I had THE perfect day today.

After church, I stopped by Sharl's to hang out, and we decided to have Dim Sum in Chinatown.

It was so sunny and hot that our moods were super bright and our steps were extra bouncy all the way to Spadina. I saw a dog so cute on the way to the restaurant that I had to stop ask the owner what kind it was....a Lassa-poo. It was love at first sight. I can't wait to get a puppy!

We met up with Sharl's brother at a Restaurant on Dundas and Spadina and feasted on an assortment of bamboo steamers filled with goodness. Usually sitting in a cozy booth is my favourite place to sit, however in Chinese restaurants where people are using chopsticks, I find it unbearable to sit close. I hate it when the person next to me is eating and the backs of their chopsticks point in such a close proximity to my eyes. I had to explain this to Sharl's brother who thought I was such a freak for insisting on trading places with him. Seriously. I cant' stand objects pointing at my eyes. Sick.

After lunch, we went for a walk, stopping to browse through the hawkers' ware of contreband DVDs. (Ahhh...gotta love Chinatown with hawkers and their tables that fold up into briefcases.) We hopped into a patio on Queen for a few cold beers to enjoy the outdoors.

Sharl and I went on our way after saying goodbye to Tristan, and we made our way east on Queen and stopped into a nearby park. There was a lady who was walking 4 beautiful king charles spaniels who were so friendly and affectionate that I wanted to take them all home. We sprawled on the grass under the trees and watched the dogs do tricks. Before we knew it Sharl and I had dozed off. A half an hour later, we got up and trekked through Nathan Phillips Square to see some art from the street fair and waded through the fountain to cool off our feet.

When we reached the Eaton Center, I pulled Sharl into one of my favourite browse-but-can't-afford-to-buy-anything jewellry store. To my surprise, Sharl didn't complain, and he even started to browse through the earings with me. To my double surprise, he pointed to the pair I was eyeing and asked the store jeweller to wrap them up for me. I was so heartwarmed by his gesture, and when I asked what the occasion was, he said that he didn't need an occasion to buy me something pretty. He got them because he said they looked nice on me. After that, we went to get some Rolo McFlurries at mcdonalds. Seriously...jewellery AND ice cream on the same day? I am spoiled. I have THE best boyfriend.

Back in Mississauga, we rented a movie and oddly enough, we saw Mike Bullard (the guy who I recognize more from his Dr. Bernstein weightloss ads than from his actual late night show) there with some hooched out older woman. Weird...

Anyway, my day ended perfectly, curling up with a movie and me stealing glaces at sharl's face, fondly wondering how I got to be so lucky.

And tomorrow, I start my first day of work. Goodbye summer vacation.
