Sunday night.
The snowstorm did not deter Bella and I from checking out the Bobby Dreadful concert at Mod Club. We were driving at 40 km/h on the Gardener Expressway with a limited scope of vision becuase the windshield wipers were not working properly. We arrived safely, and enjoyed ourselves over drinks and spoken word to sitar playing and a fusion of rock, soul and funk music. Kardinal Offishall did the introlude, and Bobby danced like Jacky Brown....with dreads flying all over the place.
After the set, the two singers came down at chatted with us and inivted us up to the VIP party room, where other musicians were half baked, eating food and sipping on champagne. Sitting casually and sleepily in the corner of the orange room was K-os a.k.a. the same Kheaven whose party we were invited to at Alto Basso afterward. Bella and I talked to him for a bit and he offered us birthday cake.
Making a non-chalent exit with back-to-back double cheek kiss goodbyes, we left for our trek back to Mississauga.
Travelling at 40 km/h on the gardener again, we stopped in at Rabba's for some late night eatery. The guy who made our sandwich was super nice, and gave us tons of free samples and said that we could set the price of our purchase. Two dollars? we joked. He said okay and rang it in.
Our last mission was to make it safely back to my house. Everything was going smoothly until we realized that the plows had already been around and created a huge snowy baracade to the entrance of my street so it was impossible to turn in. Since we had not been prepared and had no shovels, we had to make do with whatever resources we had in the trunk. One snow brush and one plastic basket. So armed with these two tools, we plowed through the snow banks. an exhausting hour later we were safely in my driveway. Up in my room, we ate our tasty $2 Rabba sandwiches probably reaking of weed and champagne. IT was 4 am and we both had tests the next day.
What a fun night.
