You`ll have to excuse my poor typing skills as I am not used to this Quebec keyboard....all the keys are in funny places, and wherever I expect keys to be, there are other keys....gr..
On the train ride here, a young guy sat next to me who reminded me so much of Owen Wilson...that surfer type dude with an obnoxious slurry whiteboy drawl re: Meet the parents. He was nice enough though...showed me pictures on his laptop of his sail through French Polynesia and Australia, which i have to admit was pretty cool. He told me he has been to Indonesia, and when he mentioned that country, an elderly man turned around out of his seat and joined our conversation. The old guy was a professor at U of T and George Brown, and he spent some time in Indonesia doing some educational work there. Such a coincidence! HE even spoke to me in bahasa indonesia, though I could only pick out the words that had to do with food. It was strange to hear some old white dude speak the same dialect as my mother, from half a world away.
Owen Wilson dude shared his laptop with me and we watched some old hitchcock film until about Kingston, where he went on about how he was 32 and looking to settle down. I said that I was pretty much in the same boat with my bf. He asked for my number when we were pulling into Montreal station, and I debated on giving him a fake number, because I didn`t want to extend our camaraderie. HE seemed like the free spirited surfer who was looking for some `company` during his vacation in montreal, so i was kinda leary. Instead I just told him that I was going to be busy for the entire week i was here, and thanks for the movie, and company on the train. I was grateful that my connecting train was leaving in 10 minutes so i wouldn`t have to linger in the station with him.
Riding on the train is interesting like that, cuase you`ll never know what kind of randomness you`ll run across. Maybe that`s what it`s like backpacking in a foreign country. Pick up strangers here and there. Well, my adventure subsides for now as i`m parked in at my family`s house. I`ve been having a nice time so far. Internet time running out...gotta run
On es verr...(as sharl would say)
