Went to the U of T "meet and mingle" night with various prospective corporation representatives from Dell, CBC, Deloitte & Touche, TD, etc...
It was so crowded...and kinda funny, cause everyone was dressed up all "professional" but the companies were not even recruiting. It was only a networking opportunity. Man..all the students looked like new-fish yuppies. It was pretty lame. I hate the business world. It's so phoney. It's ass-kissing your way to they top...You can be the smartest most talented person in the world, and you won't be noticed unless you kiss some ass. Sadly, most people aren't that smart. The ones who think they're smart actually advance farther than the ones who actually are smart, just cause they have a bigger mouth.
At least I got a free pen...that was the best part.
OH.. no..wait. Dinner was, of course, the best part. S and I went to our favourite restaurant, Big Daddy's on King St.
OMG.
We had just about the best thing ever tasted in the history of tastes.
The seafood fondue.
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!
It was this creamy cheesy medly of shrimp, scallops and crawfish flavoured with garlic, butter and light herbs baked in a large ceramic ramekin and served with toasted homemade bread.
We almost died when we tasted it, and even gave a silent, almost tearful moment to the wonderful goodness of flavour.
I almost felt sorry for our main dishes when they came out, all shy and insecure because they knew that the appetizer had alraedy stolen the show.
They were still excellent dishes though...nothing could have compared to what we ate in those precious few minutes of pure bliss.
I had the Jambalaya Linguini with creamy creole sauce and sharl had Atchafalaya Pasta with Seafood in cajun butter sauce.
We ended our dinner off with a Crème Brulée, which had a nice velvety texture and a golden sugary crispy top layer torched to perfection.
Whoever's looking for a good restaurant will NOT be disappointed here. The decor's really fun and tacky too in the Mardi-gras-esque style.
They're also very well known for their oyster bar for the adventurous eater.
