So it`s my first day at the Desjardins office in Lévis.
The coordinator here arranged for this guy, Diégo to pick me up from my hotel to drive me to the office. We managed to small talk in some English/French inter-language. Mostly we were quiet because it was early in the morning. He was shy, but a gentleman. He dropped my off at the front of the building before he went to park in the lot. Good manners.
As I was being introduced to the ladies in the office, one of them, France, with a mischevious smile, asked me how I enjoyed my ride to the office, while the rest of the ladies giggled.
I replied that it was a good trip in... not too much traffic.
To which she slyly said, but what did you think of Diego?
HUHÉÉ??
(cringe)
«Maybe Diégo can show you around old Québéc later on,» she continued.
(god, they`re shameless here...)
Apparently the ladies here are quite fond of Diégo, since he is 1. one of the only males that works on the floor, and 2. is under 30.
They quickly saw the «potential» in me since I was 1. female and 2. under 30.
First lesson learned: The essence of the phrase `certain je ne sais quoi`...behind the twinkle of a French woman`s eye and mysterious smile merely refers to her love of a good scandal.
