For the record, the Art Gallery of Ontario is NO LONGER showing the Art Deco exhibit. It has been replaced with the Degas exhibit, which was quite lovely, since I was just there last Tuesday.
If you would like to catch the Art Deco exhibit, it will be showing at the ROM until January 4th, 2004, not the AGO.
While in the area, I would suggest lunch at the Matahari, a cute Indonesian restuarant on Baldwin St. & McCaul.
One more thing... art snobbery went out in the 60's. With the advent of Pop Art...The notion of high art vs. low art and the descrepency of "taste" underwent serious transformations and re-appropriations. Mass culture and pop culture were challenged to be considered in the same calibre of classical art. That's how Andy Warhol was able to get his Elvis px and Campbell Soup Tins into major art galleries and be recognized as high art. Just something to think about.
Cheers!
